It’s been a while since I posted any nail stuff. I still do my nails, just not as often as I’d like. Life, of course, gets in the way. And car repairs get in the way. It never fails that I make my nails look super cute and damn it if the car doesn’t need something extra greasy changed out that completely rips my nails to shreds and ruins a perfect manicure. Such was the case this week. Stupid coolant flange blew out. Again. Defective part from when I changed it out last September. Got a free part but still had to shell out $20 for antifreeze since mine got left all over the I-10 dump ramp to 610 North. In the middle of traffic from a wreck that took up 3 lanes. I was effing ecstatic let me assure you.
Anyway, a few days earlier I was feeling a little down, it being that time of the month and all, so I did a little retail therapy. Now the last thing I want to shop for is anything I have to try on when Aunt Flo’s in town so I went shopping at my favorite place in the world. You got it, The Dollar Tree. I could spend hours in that damn store. And come out with $200 worth of crap I don’t need. But the beauty of it is that I have 3 baskets full of crap I don’t need.
This is what I scored at The Dollar Tree. I know, right?! I can’t even tell you what the name of the colors are because they aren’t even on the bottles. I love cheap crap. The little bottles on the bottom were the ultimate find. One is big glitters which is awesome because now I don’t have to go dig them out of the nail polishes when I want to put only a few in specific places. The other little bottles are pieces of iridescent cellophane. They kinda work the same way glitters do but they are irregular shaped. And of course because I don’t have enough glitter, every freaking shade of blue and green glitter from the craft section. You’d think this would be enough, but you would be wrong.
Across the street from The Dollar Tree is a Walgreens. The wonderful thing about Walgreens is they carry my second favorite brand of nail polish and they frequently put it on sale for 99 cents. I love Sinful Colors nail polish. It’s cheap and it goes on great. The colors from left to right are In the Spotlight, I Miss You, and After Party. The little round lolipop bottle on the end is some new stuff they had and I have no clue what it is because there was a huge tag with all the info on it and it was bugging the crap out of me so I ripped it off and threw it away. It is a super fine hologram frosty color with multicolor glitter. It was 2.99 and will look really cute once I figure out what the heck I’m going to do with it.
But that’s not all folks. No, a little later Lili talked me into going to Sally’s Beauty Supply. I can’t remember why but they had China Glaze (my favorite, FAVORITE) nail polish on sale, buy 2 get one free. How the hell do you pass that up? I know! I bought 3 bottles. Luxe and Lush, Electrify, and Fairy Dust. And yes, for whatever reason, I am on a total glitter kick right now. Shut up. The other two bottles on the left are Gelous base coat and Seche Vite top coat. These two are absolute must haves for your manicure. Trust me, they are worth the money. You can totally afford to skimp on cheap color if you splurge a little on your base coat and top coat.
I have so much polish now I may have to clean out another drawer to hold it all. On top of all this, Lili ordered a holographic nail polish that looks almost like microscopic mirrors on your nails. She also bought me some fushia glitter. (I love that I’ve taught my daughter to be an enabler. I’m totally convinced that if I still drank, she would be able to make a mean margarita by now.) Now I just have to get busy with some new nail designs as soon as I get all this grease out from underneath my nails.
