In general, when you meet someone, one of the first things you ask is what they do for a living. My answer to this question had always left people taken aback a bit. I have the coolest job in the world. I edit photography. And not just any photography. I primarily edit boudoir photography. Oh I have friends that do other types of photography and sometimes I edit for them, but my main bread and butter is the half naked ladies. (Okay, sometimes naked, but not too often.)

I used to get asked all the time what exactly is boudoir photography and my standard answer has always been the same. It’s kinda like having your own Victoria’s Secret layout done but a little more down to Earth. But I’ve come to realize over the last year or so that it’s so much more than that.

I was inspired to write this when I saw someone post this article at My Friend Theresa Photography the other day. It really tied in to the post my BFF did a while back about us as women celebrating being enough. The moms, the working women, the fat bitches who keep saying I need to lose 10 (or 50!) pounds before we would even consider doing any types of photo shoot for ourselves, much less photographs of ourselves in our underwear. Horrors!!

But seriously, it’s not scary. It’s beautiful. We are beautiful. And I really don’t think women realize how beautiful and enough they can be until they get the images back. And that’s when the fun stuff starts. I don’t interact with Christine’s clients very often, but when I do, it’s nothing short of amazing to hear these women come back and tell me or Christine, “You made me look so beautiful.” No hon, you are that beautiful. You just needed to be reminded. Seriously, go look at her website. I dare you to find a woman on there who is not absolutely beautiful. (And BTW, they are not Photoshopped.)

I’ve been saying for a while I want to get a boudoir session done. I’m actually sitting in Christine’s living room typing this as she’s on the phone mentoring another photographer so she has no idea I’m telling y’all this. But I need to do one. For potential clients. For my friends who are still too afraid to take the first step. For my daughter to show her you don’t have to look like a supermodel to be beautiful. And for me. Because I am beautiful and even though I’m a fat bitch, I still rule.
